Watching our government operate never ceases to amaze me.
What if every day of your life you could come home, open your checkbook, see where you are short and then print and borrow all the money you needed? Wouldn’t it relieve some temporary stress? Sure, but how long can it last? We all know that on a personal level it cannot last for long, but when it’s our government, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, maybe we all believe that in fact it can last forever.
Our country prints or borrows almost 45% of every dollar it spends with no end in sight, and job creation has slowed to a crawl. I read that the rich are getting richer and the middle class is slowly shrinking, but wherever I go I see crowded restaurants, new cars, and home prices rising. Does everybody think this is really sustainable? If living on debt is sustainable why don’t we just admit it, and on an annual basis simply print and hand out $50,000 to everybody in the country, what’s the difference?
When I recently posed the above question to a highly educated financial expert the answer was: “Essentially we’re already doing it, but if we make it official we will destroy the incentive to work” Hmmmm....something to think about.
So what am I doing about it? Just the opposite. I’m staying out of debt, trying to save some money, and laughing as much as I can.
Yes laughing. It’s quite obvious that our country and most adults don’t really care about the current financial cliff we live on and are totally unwilling to sacrifice to do anything about it. So I’ve decided that laughter is the best action to take.
I’ve discovered that the more I can laugh the better I feel and the less I am affected by the craziness and irresponsibility that seems to run our country and the world. My advice to my readers is to join in the laughter for your own health and well being. Look for all the excuses you can find to laugh. Laugh at yourself, laugh at your friends, laugh at your leaders, and find TV shows and movies to laugh at as well.
If we would all start putting the same amount of time and energy into laughter as we do into fear and worrying how much more pleasant would our life experience be? With laughter we begin to change our personal vibration and as our personal vibration changes our world will change along with it.
With laughter we can usually only think happy and when we are finally able to transform our thoughts the world will change personally and collectively. Below are a few quotes I just came across on the subject:
Hindu anecdote: A holy man is asked what he does for work? His reply “My body is a field and I sow good thoughts and actions to reap the desired results”
Buddha: All that we are is the result of what we have thought
Emerson: The ancestor of every action is thought
Find something to laugh about, and then find something else, and something else. Sometimes looking in the mirror at all the craziness we have allowed ourselves to become is a great beginning. Look in the mirror and watch yourself laugh. Try it and see how you feel.
Our government and our elected officials are leading us way off course. Being self responsible while mastering one’s own thoughts and emotions is the road to survival and peace.
