NOSTALGIA: TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING?
Hello again Dear Friends,
Doesn't everyone, to some degree, look back on certain "good ol' days" with affection and maybe even some remorse that they no longer exist?
Do you surround yourself with a vision board for the future or photos of days long gone? Is your speech accentuated with how good you were, or how good you are, or even how good you will be?
Thoughts of our past may be positive or negative or most likely some of both. They are thoughts to enjoy and thoughts to learn by but they are the past, and spending too much mental or emotional time in the past does not serve us well. Why? Because we can only create from this present moment.
Nostalgia, that oftentimes wonderful affection for times gone by can be most joyful and heartwarming, but too much living in the past can be a formula for stagnation.
Think about those people you know who are always looking at old pictures, or telling old stories, or reliving old relationships, how much do they enjoy life today? How much optimism and enthusiasm do they possess? How much are they looking forward to tomorrow?
My experience is that a proper amount of nostalgia and thankfulness for days gone by is relaxing and helpful, but in large doses, be careful.
In my speaking presentations one sure fire way to get the audience on edge is to speak of universal forgiveness. I find so many individuals carry with them both a lack of forgiveness and anger towards others even for events which occurred years ago.
As I have written regularly over the years, when we are not forgiving we are living in the past, and when we are living in the past, we are typically unable to create a future we desire. Why, because as I wrote earlier, we can only create from this current moment.
The entire process of creating our health, our relationships, our finances begins with action and energy right now, in the present, it's the only way!
Just so you know there is always a place in my heart for the good old days, check this out
What's the best way to start your personal creation process in the present? WITH SILENCE!
Silence is the only place I know of where we can CONSISTENTLY connect with our energetic inner self, with our Soul, with God.
Do you have the things you desire most? Do you have peace, calm, joy on a regular basis? Would you like to finally and consistently manifest more? If the answers are yes, then get selfish with yourself and find a time and place for personal silence.
Be alone somewhere, turning off the TV, the radio, the cell phone, the computer, and JUST BE. It may feel odd or even uncomfortable at first, but practice being in this place. Close your eyes, breathe gently and relax in the luxury of silence.
As your heart slows down, quiet your mind and envision what you want most. It's really that easy. Do this every day and follow up with some corresponding positive action and the manifestation process is underway! Enjoy
With Love and appreciation,
