EQUALITY, UNIQUENESS, ONENESS
Hello again Dear Friends,
As I’m sure you all realize by now I try to be very positive in all these monthly newsletters as well as my coaching and speaking presentations. However, often times I receive feedback that perhaps I’m not familiar with the downside of our life experience and I should take off my rose colored glasses.
Frankly, I am well aware that we all have our ups and downs with continuing lessons to be learned. I don’t know anyone who has not had serious financial, health, or relationship issues and I am no exception, but have you ever wondered why, for some, these downturns are huge lifetime roadblocks and for others just a small blip in the road?
For me, my great wake-up call occurred the late 1980’s. At the time I had a successful commercial real estate business, was married almost fifteen years and had two young children. Almost overnight the tax reform act of 1986 caused my business to fail leaving me with little income and huge financial obligations. About the same time my marriage dissolved and my children and ex-wife moved two thousand miles away.
I clearly remember living alone, looking sadly in the mirror and asking for my purpose in life and for help! Do you know the old saying, “When the student is ready the teachers will appear”? Well, I was asking and the teachers arrived quickly in the form of books, seminars, and CD’s. This most painful, negative, and fearful time in my life was a life changer as I began my study of happiness, self responsibility, success, and spirituality.
One of the first things I learned and embraced was the difference between equality and equality of opportunity, something I believe many people are confused about today. Frankly put, we are not equal and this concept of equality goes against the laws of nature. Just look at other animals, plants, and trees as some are always bigger, stronger, healthier, and smarter, right?
Well, it’s the same with us. We all possess different skills, different strengths, different intelligence, different levels of energy and effort, and different interests; it’s just natural. However what we all have within these strengths and limitations is relative equality of opportunity. I’m not built physically or intellectually to be an NFL football player, a concert pianist, or a nuclear scientist, but I can think, communicate, and work harder than most allowing me to succeed in my chosen areas. In other words, what I do have is equality of opportunity within my personal strengths and weaknesses. If I practice, study, work, and compete I have the opportunity to manifest what I desire relative to the areas of good health, financial stability, and happy relationships.
The biggest stumbling block I see with individuals who have reached a roadblock in their lives is the lack of their emotional and mental capacity to believe that they can achieve what they desire. In fact most simply say “I’ll believe it when I see it”, and it is precisely this attitude that keeps them stuck.
The fact is a belief that ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ is exactly the opposite of how we create. We must BELIEVE IT IF WE WANT TO SEE IT! This is the power of energy, the power of our thoughts, emotions, spoken words, and beliefs. Success almost always requires hard work and discipline, but without lining up thoughts, emotions, words, and beliefs most people are just paddling upstream wasting their energy.
Everybody finds themselves at a tipping point from time to time. How to transform this tipping point to your personal golden age is what living the physical life experience is all about. We are not instinctual animals capable only of reacting to all the negativity which presents itself. Learning to pause and alter our vibrational make up is the number one skill for us all to develop as we paint our life’s picture. There is no better way than a practice of meditation to get this process moving forward.
