The Self Determination Theory / Willpower and Determination
The self-determination theory has been bantered about by intellectuals for years as a way to measure the determination and use of will power behind a person's choice based on his needs.
What's the point of bringing this up?
In order to manifest your desires you must know as clearly as possible what those desires are. And by desires I'm talking about what will make you happy in a lasting way, not like the instant satisfaction you might receive from buying a new car.
You can't always get what you want.
Does it bother you sometimes that getting everything you want, including happiness, might take just a little bit of effort? If you read some of the current self help books or listen in on the talk shows it all seems so easy.
Some people even tell me that last year’s bestselling book “The Secret” led them to believe that they could lie on their couch and just wish for all they wanted and it would suddenly manifest.
You probably know that my message is all about having the proper thoughts and emotion, but without some action, things usually are at a standstill. Here is the catch. Action without the proper thoughts and emotion will also get you nowhere.

Getting what you want in life is all about lining up and being in sync with your thoughts, emotions, words, and actions. Let me explain.
Let’s say you are currently in the mortgage or housing business and financially things are not going well. Every time you listen to the news or pick up a newspaper there is more negativity on the subject of housing and finance. You begin to come to realizations that prosperity is just not going to happen for you.
The more bad news you hear the more negative your emotions become and all you think about is failure. (Hint: maybe you should consider watching less of the national and world news).

Next, whenever you speak about your business to friends and family your words are filled with negativity. You may be working hard (the action), but you are not lined up in the other areas. Today even our quantum physic scientists understand the power of thought and emotion. Want a scientific starter course? Go rent the movie What the bleep do we know anyway? So how do you control your thoughts and emotions with all this stress and negativity coming at you? Sorry, but it may take just a little work and self-discipline; I call it WILL POWER. We humans are the only animals capable of controlling our thoughts and emotions, but it does take will power and practice.
If you want your financial picture to change it will take some action, but your thoughts must be on what you want and your emotions must be positive. How will you FEEL when you have an extra $10,000 in your bank account, or when you are on that vacation, or when your bills are paid??
You must practice (will power) to control your thoughts, emotions, and words and be sure they line up with your goals and actions. The same goes for your relationship and health desires.
The Self Determination Theory / How to Balance to Your Life
I continue to be asked regularly about how to balance one’s life. Between families, friends, personal time, work, community etc. this can be a challenge. There is no universal answer to this question, but it starts with YOU deciding what balance is for YOU, not letting society or your families make that decision.
Only you know, by listening to yourself, whether you’re working too much, playing too much, spending too much, sleeping too much, etc. Many workaholics are very happy people and of course many may not be. Many people who spend abundant amounts of time with their children are very happy and of course many may not be.
The Self Determination Theory / More on Restoring Balance to Your Life
You know inside what makes you happy and fees good, and happiness is your magnetic point of attracting everything you desire. No amount of things (toys) can give you lasting happiness, but happiness lined up with your actions can get you everything you desire.
This is part of what I teach and I am on a mission to help people be happy, stay happy, and attract all that they desire in spite of what the media presents to us. It takes a little will power and practice, but we can take control of our well being, and the present is as good as any to start. Try turning off the news for just one day and then pass this message around to your friends. Watch your life start to turn around in as little as 3 weeks.
